About Frank Van Imschoot

He soon started to master a special technique often comparable with famous photographers like Daido Moriyama is to shoot with very high ASA film, day and night. Then heavily underexpose the image and then overdevelop it in the darkroom. This would result in a loss of detail but a massive gain in character.

Now he replaced the darkroom with digital technologies and became an expert in Adobe Lightroom which almost gives him the same satisfaction as a darkroom but he can finish his art creations so much faster.

Frank Van Imschoot was born in Gent, Belgium.

He started taking holiday pictures in the early 80's with the Kodak Ektra 200 of his brother. He was so much into it, that his parents bought him a Minolta X300 for 12th birthday. Wherever he was, his camera was.

He followed 2 years of evening courses to get more specialised into it and also be able to make his own developments.

Starting developing his own B&W photos in a darkroom in the early 2000.
