Axel Hütte / Albert Renger-Patzsch - RHEINGAU
Axel Hüttte (1951-), renowned German photographer and former student of the Bechers at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, is today considered the undisputed master of analog landscape photography. In this stimulating and revealing project, Axel Hütte combines the exceptional images of Albert Renger-Patzsch (1897-1966), a pioneer of the new photographic objectivity in Germany, with historic postcards and a selection of his own work, produced between autumn 2009 and spring 2010.
This luxuriously designed volume is an appreciation of and dedication to Albert Renger-Patzsch’s seminal photobook “Lob des Rheingaus” published originally in 1953.
Unpublished pictures from the series are supplemented by new works by Axel Hütte, whose images stand in the artistic tradition of his ancestor.
