Gilbert Garcin - Le Témoin
Salvaged from his son's Meccano set, bits of string and pebbles, armed with glue, scissors, and his camera, he cobbles together tiny models, for which he rigs up lighting 'to make it look real,' and thus photographs, day after day, the different acts of his little inner theater. Playing with his self-portraits, and shamelessly cloning his 'everyman' silhouette, he then stages himself in the most surreal situations; here he is, by turns, Sisyphus pushing his enormous boulder, or a poor wretch behind a clock chasing after time, the egoist playing leapfrog with himself as far as the eye can see, or the peacock displaying its own image.
